Travel diary : Berlin day 1 & 2

Saturday, 29 March 2014

Hii! So after 4 long and tiring days I'm finally back from Berlin, and it was soooo much fun! Because even though the days were super long, I enjoyed almost every minute of it ( except for those during the last part of the bicycle tour - because of the rain and the city walk - because of a blister on my feet the size of China ) So I'd like to share everything with you!

Day 1.
We arrived in Berlin at around 09:30 AM and we immediately went to the City instead of going to our guest family first. But since Anouk and I were acting like huge tourist ( making pictures of everything, literally everything ) We soon lost our group ( we = Anouk, Lindi, Anne and I ), well great. what a start of the journey. So we searched for a cell phone to call our teacher since it was too expensive to call with our own phones. But for some reason we couldn't get it working so I asked a very nice man and he helped us but after like 20 minutes we found out that the cell phone was defect. And even though we were in kinda big trouble we still had lots of fun because it was just too funny. In the end Lindi texted the teacher with her own phone and it turned out they were in the berliner dom, and guess where we were? Next to the berliner dom.. yes.

After walking around in the Berliner dom and taking pictures we went to the Reichstag, After some controles we went in there and looked around as well. When we where on the Reichstag taking pictures and Americain boy came to us and was like "Selfie?" And we were like "uh yeh sure" So when we got our picture taken he was like "ohh we gotta do the gangster sign by the eye because that's cool and we're cool." So we did because we indeed ARE cool (lol) and then he was like I love you and I'll remember you forever.

After the Reichstag we were allowed to have some lunch alone in the city so Anne, Lindi, Anouk and I went to a cute little bakery in the Friederichstra├če. Since we had an hour the time we also could do a little shopping so I bought a MAC lipstick. I also wanted to go to the Gina tricot but we didn't have any time left so we went to the metro and to the first stop where we had to get our bike for the bicycle tour. The first half of the tour was very fun, but the second was horrible because it started raining and it got very cold. Luckily we stopped earlier and went to the Hackische Market. We were allowed to walk around there and do some shopping if we wanted and afterwards we went to our guest family. Anne, Anouk, Lindi and I where the guest by an old lady and she was very sweet at kind. But she couldn't speak Englisch or Dutch and we couldn't speak German very well so most of the time we communicated with google translate or half dutch half german sentences with a few handsigns haha.

Day 2
We had to wake up quite early because we had to be at our bus stop at 08:30am. So we got ready and had breakfast with the woman we were staying at. At First we went to Camp Sachsenhausen - which was if you ask me not so spectaculair because it's quite similair to Camp Vught only this is way bigger. And there isn't much left to see.

After Sachsenhausen we went to Potsdam, Sans Souci which was a beautiful parc! And really big. But I really enjoyed looking around there because of all the beautiful architecture. We walked around there for around 1,5 hour or 2 and made lots of pictures.

After Sans Souci we went to Cecillienhof were we had lunch and could do some little shopping again. It was quite a small street with some shops but it was really cozy! We had lunch at a bakery again and I got a sanwhich with snitzel - weird combi I know. But it looked delicious, and when I say looked, I do mean looked because it tasted horrible! So after taking a few bites of that I just ordered a croissant and a pretzel.

And afterwards we had dinner at an Italien restaurant and I had a delicious Spaghetti! And obviously we went back to our guest family's ( and had a pyjama party hahaha)

So this was the first part of my Berlin travel diary and I hope you like it! Stay tuned for part 2 and a haul!
with love,
Demi.
